In 1963 Pottinger introduced the first forage wagon. Since this breakthrough in grassland harvesting the company has distributed more than 100,000 units throughout the world to establish itself as the market leader on a global basis.

Pottinger is still a family owned business founded in 1871 by Great Grandfather Franz Pottinger at Grieskirchen in Northern Austria. This progressive company now run by brothers Heinz and Klaus Pottinger employ over 900 staff building around 1,500 forage wagons for a European market totalling 2,500 units. Pottinger wagons are also in use in China, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

During the 1990's Pottinger developed the loading rotor technology for its range of Forage Wagons. The introduction of Jumbo and Europrofi into the UK and Ireland during 2000 set new benchmarks in terms of speed, efficiency and capacity in harvesting with a Forage Wagon. There are now over 500 Pottinger wagons operating successfully under these demanding conditions. A wet climate with much larger swaths being harvested in a short window of opportunity is unique from those conditions normally experienced in Western Europe.
