LANDMEC POTTINGER LAUNCH NEW TERRASEM MODEL INTO THE UK AT CEREALS 2006.

Pottinger one of Europe's leading manufacturers has extended their range of mulch seed drills for 2006. LandMec Pottinger responsible for the distribution of Pottinger products throughout Great Britain are delighted with this recent development that compliment the current range of seed drills sold under the brand.

TERRASEM 4000

Terrasem 3000 Combination Seed Drill from Pottinger was introduced to the UK market at CEREALS 2005. This machine stimulated much interest at the Event and has been used successfully throughout Eastern England for Autumn and Spring Sowings. The Terrasem range has now been extended to 4 metres working width featuring hydraulic fold for transport and uses drill technology successfully employed in the Aerosem range of pneumatic drills.

This compact trailed machine offers the choice of twin-row rotary star or short disc harrow as its leading cultivator and uses a 2400 litres seed hopper with integral distributor head located in the hopper to reduce waste when tramlining ensuring the seed is returned to the hopper instead of being directed into the remaining coulters. Pottinger claim this reduces seed usage by 6%.

All Terrasem models incorporate a combined packer and chassis unit. The wheels are locked together in the field to distribute the weight of the drill evenly, protecting the soil and reducing the effects of compaction. For road transport, the wheels are disengaged and the machine runs on the outer pair providing excellent stability even on uneven surfaces.

The drill coulters are equipped with ball-bearing mounted disc coulters. The rotating discs are serrated and dished inwards effectively clearing earth and trash away from the drill. The integrated Suffolk coulter draws a smooth, uniform-depth (adjustable) and places the seed with a high degree of accuracy. Each coulter is trailed by its own rubber-wheeled pressure roller that provides perfect consolidation and uniform depth placement over the whole working width. The coulters are individually spring-mounted to prevent stones getting caught. Each share can be applied with a hydraulic force of up to 80 kg.

The standard Terrasem is operated from a membrane Power Control providing an accurate and reliable control system. The Profiline system incorporates ISOBUS and radar ground speed technology
