NEW HIGH PERFORMANCE PLOUGH MAKES ITS DEBUT AT CEREALS 2006

Pottinger the Austrian based manufacturer of grassland machinery and cultivation equipment has recently extended its range of mounted reversible ploughs for the coming season with the SERVO 45S series. The High Performance SERVO 45S 4 to 6-furrow plough, designed for tractors up to 270 hp will be introduced into the UK market at CEREALS 2006.

The SERVO 45S will compliment the current range already being used by arable farmers throughout the UK and many other key European markets. The demand for faster machines to assist producers in lowering production costs has been the prime driver to this development. With a heavy-duty 140 x 140 mm main plough beam, SERVO 45S ploughs are intended for the toughest applications with powerful tractors up to 270 hp.

There is a choice of body spacings of 95 cm or 102 cm, depending on the ploughing application - the larger gap being recommended for ploughing-in higher quantities of harvest trash. Four different working widths (5 on the NOVA model with non-stop trip legs) can be adjusted by simply swapping bolts around in a matrix on the forged leg brackets.

An oversized reversing cylinder ensures reliable, jolt-free operation. The sheer strength of the reversing unit is indicated by its massive diameter of 150 mm.
The straightforward and precise system for setting up the plough is worth a special mention. The leading furrow width and the pulling angle are adjusted using separate turnbuckles. When the plough is set up correctly it is responsive during operation and saves tractor power. The two turnbuckles can be adjusted completely independently without affecting the setting of the other turnbuckle in any way. No readjustment is required. The turnbuckles are fitted with anti-twist locks.

Another interesting feature is a torsion bar bolted onto the plough beam at the point of maximum stress. This system optimises the plough beam tube's resistance to bending.
