The Mex 6 Forage Harvester

The Mex 6 trailed flywheel forage harvester is a leader in the GB market for big throughput flywheel precision chops. Manufactured by Pöttinger - one of the top five grassland machinery producers in Europe, you can be sure of obtaining the right back-up over the life of the machine from a well-founded, reputable manufacturer.
Mex 6 flywheel foragers have grown in popularity because:
They are extremely power efficient - so easy to drive; they run quietly and smoothly, yet very effectively.
• The blow from the paddles on the big diameter flywheel is superb - no problem for side loading in breezy conditions.
• The flywheel is power band driven - no expensive gearboxes to sap power or run up expensive repair bills. This drive system enables the flywheel to be driven at 3 separate speeds by utilising different sizes of drive pulley. This means the Mex 6 can be effectively driven by a wide range of tractors between 100 and 200 HP. Tractor input is at a constant 1000 rpm; the flyweel rotates at either 540, 590 or 620 rpm according to which drive pulley is fitted.
• Because they work easy, are very strongly constructed and painted to a high standard, Mex foragers have a remarkably high second hand value. This makes them an excellent investment.
• They are excellent value for money; full electric-hydraulic controls are standard and the chopper is rated to carry big silage trailers without the need for an expensive bogey hitch.

Suitable for tractors from 85hp (62 kw) to 200 hp (147 kw). PTO speed 1000 rpm.
Standard Equipment includes:
10 knife rotor with 5 blower paddles, tungsten-carbide coated knives, shear bar and paddles, 4 feed and compression rollers, built-in knife grinding disc, 3 different feed roll speeds to alter chop length, friction wheel reversing mechanism for feed rollers and pick-up, electro-hydraulic controls operated from the tractor cab, PTO drive shaft with overrun clutch (1 3/8" 21 splines), PTO speed 1000 rpm, rotor speed 540 rpm, 13/55-16 tyres. Choice of 3 flywheel speeds to suit tractor HP.
